Write About What You Know
The other day I was talking to one of my teachers about a comment she wrote on a previous blog of mine. At some point in this conversation I said something about having a bit of writer's block with my blogs and she brought up the phrase "write what you know". So I figured I would do just that. I have decided to compile a (hopefully brief) list of things I have learned so far in my 19 years of existence. I also encourage others to comment back with their lists of things they have learned. Why not share the knowledge right?
* If you can pretend like you're asleep, it's just as good as being asleep (think about it). * No matter how bad things get, there is always someone out there worse off than you. * Plan for the future, but never plan further than tomorrow. * You don't have to do anything Mom asks you to do, unless it's the third time she's asked. * Love isn't just about being there for you during the good times, but the bad times as well. * Almost everything is a two way street. * When you don't know what to say, just make vague comments with big words in them. * Brothers are like bodyguards, only free. * Don't do today what you can put off till tomorrow. * Mom will still make you cookies, even after you've moved out, if you ask nice enough. * Blood is thicker than water. * If you're going to start an argument with Mom make sure Dad isn't in the room first. * If Dad won't get it for you, Mom will (and vice versa). * If you can't out smart them, out wit them. * Unless you're in an office, whatever anyone tells you is a suggestion not an order. It's up to you whether you follow it or not. * It's your life, no one else can live it but you. * No regrets. * Fish aren't pets, just merely a living decoration. * High school may feel like it's your life, but it's really only four years of a much larger picture. * High school really is your life if you're a high school teacher. * Live life for you first, others second. what your bro knows...
*always knock on the door to any room that is or may be a girls bed room... unless you have a death wish
*If a sister beats you to the bathroom in the morning, don't expect to use it unless your willing to be late for what ever it is your doing.
*for any reason that a sister's car breaks down, the brother is told to fix it.
*As a child sisters make GREAT enemies... however in the later years they make for great super villains
I figured i would share some lessons learned and hope they are well taken.
1 God has a sense of humor
2 You have to make your own destiny
3 You will learn something new every day of your life
4 Happiness is only real when it is shared
5 There are often huge discrepencies in the way you see yourself and the way other people see you.
6 Murphy's Law is not a joke
7 Money is as important or as unimportant as you want it to be
8 One should take advantage of student status as long as possible
A list of 10 things would mean I think I know alot more than I really do.
Some lessons I have learned in life:
Life is about changes, things NEVER stay the same.
One never learns how to live with the loss of a loved one, but one can learn to live through it and hopefully come out stronger.
Take time to play with your children - the time goes by way to fast.
Spend your life for something that will outlast it. (That is why I am a teacher!)
You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar so be tactful and kind because it really does come back to you.
Take time to give thanks to the Lord for all He has or has not given you because He has a purpose for everything.
