R.I.P random guinea fowl

For those of you who aren't familiar with guineas, I have provided a picture for you.

Once upon a time, it was the end of the school year, and it was also time for me and the rest of my class to graduate high school. That weekend, on Friday, my friends and I heard of a get together out in the country where everyone was going to hang out. We decided we'd go because we had no other plans for that night, and it was our last chance to hang out with our pals before everyone parted ways.

We got to the house that we were told to go to. There were cars everywhere, it was unreal. We had to park all the way down the road, which was fine because we didn't mind the walk. We get there, start socializing and hanging out. After a while, two of my guy friends came back and informed me that someone had busted out the back window of my car. As you can guess, I was pretty upset about this, but couldn't do anything until the next day, so I tried not to be so upset. I really can't remember ever being so angry in my life as I was at that moment in time.

So, the next day rolls around, and the reality of this event became more clear to me as every second passed. Which was making me angrier and angrier. Everyone had to be at the high school to get pictures taken with our graduation attire on, and even though I was unpleasantly bitter, I had to go to the school for the photo shoot just like everyone else. I did my best to get in and get out of the school because I really just didn't want to be around anyone at all.

On my way home, I had to drop my friend Annette off at her house since we lived close to each other, and then started towards my house. I used to live in the rural part of the county so I had to take the back roads to get home. Along the way I found out what happens when you let anger get the best of you.

I was driving, admittedly sort of fast, down this dirt road going to my house, my eyes still seeing nothing but red. I was almost to a house along side of the road, when two guinea's ran out of no where into the road. I had encountered them before and knew they, like dogs, were going to chase my car. Now, had this had been any other time, I would've slowed down and gave them a chance to get out of the way, but not that day. I just remember thinking to myself "If they don't move, I'm going to hit them!" (FYI: I wasn't thinking "hit them" as I would go out of my way to hit them if they weren't in my way). And what do ya know? They didn't move. And with a blink of an eye, I heard the ever familiar sound "THUMP" underneath my car. When I looked back in my rearview mirror I saw the body of a gray bird laying in the road and another gray bird running out to see what happened to his friend. I just kept on driving... numb to the world.

OK, before everyone starts in on me about being a heinous little woman, please note, that although at the time of the "murder" I felt no remorse, as time ticked on, I became very aware of how I had let the fifth cardinal sin get the best of me. And also how I had let the poor, poor, (but also annoying) guinea feel my wrath. It was definitely unnecessary. Then again, after living on a farm my whole life I feel I can vouch for a lot of people when I say, the world will be able to survive with one less of those godforsaken, cackling birds.

In conclusion, I'd have to say I'm kind of 50/50 on my feelings of killing the fowl: In one hand, I don't feel bad because it was in my way, on the other hand I would've never imagined ME purposely killing an animal, it's just not in my nature, so I do feel like an extremely evil person in that sense. But I can't take it back, so oh well, life goes on. So remember, the next time you have to spend your graduation money on a new back window, don't let your feelings get the best of you; that's how people/other forms of life get hurt.

I was being snide, I don't agree with the device that you are a proponent of in the previous blog. Thing is, it was very immature of me to make a snide remark like that. You took the time to research your subject, and provided a very well written blog. If I did not agree with you, the proper way for me to deal with it would have been to either a). be adult enough to take the time to research the subject matter, then resoond to you with my fact-based opinion, or b). keep my mouth shut.

I enjoy your blog, and apoligize for me being a smart @$$.

Have agreat day, and please, write more often!

I agree, it would be very frustrating to spend all of your graduation money on a back window instead of having fun. I know this sounds bad; but I'd rather see you hit the animal than swerve off the road and injure yourself. Those situations never turn out good. So it wasn't that bad and I'm sure that we're all guilty of hitting an animal (not purposely) but it happens!

Sometimes **** (rhymes with spit) happens. We're only human and we are quite violent and greedy in nature whether anyone wants to admit it or not. That's not saying we're 100% ruthless, but if something sets us off then we have tendencies to lash out without caring until the rage has subdued. So don't consider yourself evil; consider yourself human

I refer to an absurd device, not to an act of crime...

Chassedi Cooper's response:
My apologies. I thought you were making a snide comment about my last blog. I misunderstood. Thank you for the comment and reading my blog btw.

Maybe they should invent some sort of device for your car that clamps your body in the car with spikes when you shamelessly murder an innocent animal or pedestrian.

Chassedi Cooper's response:
Maybe so... definitely is worse than rape.
