Here's another week in our world of music.Posted Monday, June 27, 2011, at 5:59 PM
First things first as we move forward I thought I should take a minute to recap what went on last week, and what will be coming up this week before I get too deep on you.
There were a few musical performances at fundraisers this last weekend that were not only fun and entertaining but helpful to those organizations too. Dan Divine, singer and songwriter from Moundville Missouri, made a performance at the Relay for Life on Friday night that made for good listening if you were in the downtown area. Dan not only performed but also donated the usage of the public address system as well. Then on Sunday I brought the guitar down for the Bushwhacker Museum fundraiser dinner at Cherry Street Grill, and had a nice time playing some ad-lib jams for the folks supporting the cause. Fundraisers are a great way to get out and experience some entertainment and all the while support a great cause. The next fundraiser at Cherry Street Grill will be on the last Sunday of July and will be raising money for the teen task force from 5 until 8 pm that evening, and features all you can eat spaghetti, salad, bread and drink for only $7 with all the proceeds going to the cause. Everything went well for the other groups that were out of town, it sounded like things went well for Timberline at the Eagles in Clinton, and I also heard good things about the Shaded Abe performance when they made their way to the Downstream Casino. The Bob Campbell performance was postponed to a future date, so the Armadillo Studio was closed, but will be having another event soon. They usually have a performance on most Saturday nights featuring soloists or duos performing original music.
So what is coming up in the near future? It is quite action packed actually. On July 2nd there will be music and fireworks at the rodeo arena in Nevada, Missouri with musical guest featuring: Matthew Harper. Then you can get more explosive entertainment on July 4th in Rich Hill for their annual fourth festival with free live music provided by Blackhawk. The Parade is at 3, then the FREE Blackhawk concert at 8pm, with fireworks to follow at 10 pm! How about that for a good time, and FREE. Next, the Vernon County Youth Fair will also be sneeking up on us soon too, scheduled to be held July 8th through the 12th. If you are looking to get away one could follow local musicians Nathan Rorabaugh, and Justin Larkin to Springfield and have a great night at a great club seeing them perform with their bands, Fraught with Peril, and Alamo Black. There will also be a guest appearance by Archimedian Point & Funkee Noosa at Nathan P. Murphy's located on North Campbell Avenue in Springfield Missouri. The event will be held Friday, July 15th at 8 pm. Later in the month of July Stefanie Rae will be performing her new country music sound at the Boathouse in Stockton on July 23 at 8pm. The Boathouse is located just south of Stockton on 39 Highway and is a nice restaurant and bar combination. On July 25 at 8pm Little Texas will be performing at the El Dorado Springs Picnic for FREE at 8pm. El Dorado always has a nice festival with lots of great entertainment. We will give more details on the El Dorado Springs Picnic in a future blog. Also in the near future something that you really won't want to miss is the FREE Musician's Flea Market & Swap meet that will be held Saturday July 30th - 10:00 am - 6:00 pm in the parking lot of Butler Music at 103 W. Dakota Street in downtown Butler, Missouri. There will be a live band, a jam session, a live radio remote from KMOE radio, free water and soft drinks, product demos, and a special one-day only sale at the music store.
Well that wraps it up for this time post us a comment, and stop back in to see any updates on shows we hear about or just to read the weekly blog. See you at the show!
