Happy leap year everyone! I am ever so excited that this year will have one more day to jam out than the past three, and yes, jam we must! Here are the upcoming events for the end of January and into February 2012.
Saturday January 21 will be Dangerous Doug Harper in concert. The solo acoustic, and live CD recording of "South Street and Grand" will be held at Armadillo Sound Studio in Nevada, MO at 8pm with the general admission $5, seniors $3, and students $1. The event is for all ages.
Monday January 23, Cottey College will host the Melissa Villasenor Performance in the Raney Dining Room at Cottey College. Tickets $5/$4.
Friday January 27, a "Friday Night Special" to feature "Blue" Lou, from Pittsburg Kansas, and "Long Island" Peter Kirch, now hailing in Monet Missouri, for an awesome musical showcase throughout the evening. The event will be held at Armadillo Sound Studio in Nevada, MO at 8pm with the general admission $5, seniors $3, and students $1. The event is for all ages.
Saturday January 28, will host the Joneses, Bob and Dawn Jones, showcasing as "Pawns and Prophets" playing a Christina music set like you have never heard before! This event is to be held at Armadillo Sound Studio in Nevada, MO at 8pm with the general admission $5, seniors $3, and students $1. The event is smoke free and for all ages.
Also on the twenty-eighth the T.J.E. Austin Concert will be held at 8pm in the Raney Dining Room at Cottey College. Tickets $5/$4.
February 3, Matthew Harper will be performing a unique solo show at the American Legion of Nevada, located on East Cherry Street behind the Bank of America. Admission for the event is only $2 for those ages twenty-one and up.
February 4, ALL CAMPUS DANCE to be held in the Gymnasium at Cottey College. Admission only $3 per person.
Friday February 10, "Disabled Musicians of Vernon County Night" Presents: Bob "Little Eagle" Bittner. Bob is a disabled musician that performs original on-the-spot musical creations. Some of his topics to sing about include Native American culture, John Denver, bison, local culture, and more. That evening will also host special opening, and closing entertainment including Joplin area female performer Kinley Morrow. Kinley is an enthusiast and is an encouragement to Bob, and hopes to help bring the night together to support disabled musicians. Kinley also is the daughter of one of the members to the area band "Sober as a Judge" and has performed with the band as a guest on several occasions, as well as performed with her father at Backroads Steakhouse as special opening act for the Num Nutz Band 2010 reunion show for nearly four hundred area music fans. This event is at the Armadillo Sound Studio and is for all ages.
Tuesday February 14, Just Harper Acoustic Duo, featuring: Matthew and Dangerous Doug Harper to perform at McDonalds of Nevada Missouri at 8pm FREE McValentines Day Concert!
Tuesday February 14, Dr. Seahorse Concert, to be held in the Raney Dining Room at Cottey College. Tickets $5/$4.
Saturday February 18, the "Dan Keller Trio" featuring: Tony Karns, and Bob Jones. The three will perform some jazz-fusion music with a few standards, and piano vocal numbers. The night will be easy listening and fun! This event is to be held at Armadillo Sound Studio in Nevada, MO at 8pm with the general admission $5, seniors $3, and students $1. The event is smoke free and for all ages.
Friday and Saturday February 24, and 25, College Play held at Cottey College in the Auditorium. Tickets $5/$4.
Saturday February 25, Justin Larkin will perform a solo show filled with acoustic pop, alternative, and rock songs in a mellow, laid-back setting. Justin is the lead singer for the band Fraught with Peril, and has recently been performing with the band in the KC, Joplin, and Springfield area. The event will be held at Armadillo Sound Studio in Nevada, MO at 8pm with the general admission $5, seniors $3, and students $1. The event is for all ages. Justin was a former member of the band Midas Crow, and Withird-I, and he is always entertaining and exciting!
Wed. February 29, Leap Year Dollar Jam at Armadillo Sond Studio listen, perform, or just hang out "the most entertainment you'll ever get for just one buck" on patron said after having the time of his life at a "Dollar Jam" so don't miss it at 8pm with only $1 admission at the Armadillo Sound Studio on the Square in Nevada, MO.
