Music in May is Here!Posted Monday, April 30, 2012, at 4:58 PM
Look out for a great month coming in with lots of musical events going on!
Monday Nights the Nevada Chamber is now hosting "Music on the Square" with a unique performer each week! Ike Richmond is scheduled for May 14, myself, Dangerous Doug Harper for May 21st! Watch the newspaper for other details, and performers as they unfold for the other upcomming weeks!
Wednesdays May 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 one can listen, or perform at the weekly Dollar Jam at the Armadillo Sound Studio! Only one dollar will get you in to a great night of fun. This is an all age event though kids younger than highschool age must be with an adult. Mostly those that show up are upperclass highschool age all the way to experience musicians in their retired years.
Thursdays May 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31 Take a Break Java Den hosts the Casual Acoustic Night that features a laid back and mellow atmosphere with music! Some weeks are open for anyone to just sing songs in the back, and every other week features a performer. On May 3rd it's an OPEN night, then May 10th hosts Matthew Harper, OPEN may 17, Lorrie Divine on May 24th, and finally an OPEN night on the 31st! It's fun every week and FREE to attend!
Friday and Saturday nights through the month of May you can find DJ music throughout the towns night life, two of 'em said DJ's of course are the very popular "DJ Marny" at Boomers Roadhouse and then myself "DJ Dangerous Doug Harps" at Viking's Wild Whiskey.
Viking's also features a live band each Saturday night through the month of May with a small cover charge of $3, and patrons are limited to those age 21 and up.
Last but not least there will be a special Berlin Drop show held at the America's Best Inn and Suites Confrence Room on May 5th at 7PM. It is all ages and costs $5 at the door! It is going to be solid rock! That same day there will also be an Art show at the Art shop on East Cherry Street in Nevada, Missouri. Hosted by Adam Hewitt it's "The Nevada Underground Art Show" and will feature many artists from the area! The shop will be open through out the day and the art can be viewed for free then the main event scheduled from 7 - 10 PM.
Thats all for now, I'll see you at the show!
