Go Neptunes

After getting rained out in the big June flood, the Nevada Neptunes hosted a big swim meet last weekend. It was attended by more than 300 students from out of town -- which means tourism dollars and exposure for our community, as well as a fun opportunity for local kids to swim against opponents from four states, including Missouri.
On Thursday, some of the Neptunes came to tell the Rotary Club about their endeavor. All three who took part in the presentation like the social opportunity, the challenge of improving their personal best, and the swimming itself. They plan to keep it up, even though it's hard work. Practices mean dozens of laps, but the kids learn from one another while expending their energy in a positive way. These swimmers are dedicated and are learning life skills and how to learn and improve at the same time. Go Neptunes, and good luck |
