This is the only butterfly that sat still long enough for me to photograph it.

Last weekend, Youngest Son and I went to the butterfly exhibit at Powell Gardens, near Lone Jack, Mo.

It was quite an experience. Hundreds of butterflies in all colors and sizes fluttered about in a large conservatory, with as many people churning through the exhibit to see it. Artists also exhibited giant paintings of insects. There was a preying mantis, butterfly art, and others.

Educational exhibits also abounded.

It was a spectacle worth seeing, as was watching the joyous abandon of a 4-year-old as he squeezed through the crowd in pursuit of the elusive examples of God's art in flight.

As a special treat, he also painted a clay pot and received a plant to go with it.

Here's a couple of pictures
