Just say hello

Posted Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at 9:34 PM

All right. So you've taken that art tour around Nevada and found all sorts of things you didn't know were there.

This week, how about letting someone else know you noticed them. Make someone else smile. Invite one of your neighbors to go on that walk around the block with you. Take some extra vegetables from your garden to the people next door. Call that person you've been meaning to call for a long time. Smile and wave at everyone you see on the street. Play a board game with your family. Read to a child. Read to a grown-up. Dance in the kitchen with the radio on.

Smile. Go to church. Go to a political event. Drive around town and look at the fall leaves, just beginning to turn into their autumn colors. Stomp in a puddle.

Ask someone how they're doing and wait to hear the honest answer.

There's plenty to do. Do it, and have fun.

Oh, yeah. And add your suggestions in the comments to this blog. C'mon. It'll be fun.

I live in Wichita Kansas. I will be 53 in Feb. I would spend every summer in Nevada with my grandmother Opal Ryan. I had child hood friends I use to love to play with, like Woody and his sister Sherry. And a girl named Debby Stacy and her Butch. I always said one day I would live in Nevada because that was my dream and work at that State Hospital. While the State Hospital close down and I never made it to live there. I always loved Nevada and still do. The last time I was there was for my grandmothers funeral. But have not been back. I still have relatives there on my mothers side(Ryan) and on my dad's side (Leer). If I could move to Nevada and live there, I would in a heart beat. But that is just a dream that will never happen. So for all you who there there's nothing there in that little town, you are wrong. There is a lot. Susan Law
