Farewell, So Long

I went home on my lunch break on a Friday and realized just how much my life had changed in the last week. It does that from time to time. Just when things seem like they've gone on too long the same way, everything up and moves.
My fiancé was usually home with our two kids every day. The kitchen was usually full with Joe juggling food and two hungry toddlers. Today however, Joe had started a new job and the kids were at the babysitter's. The house was still and lonely. I missed my boys, who were always so happy to see me at lunch.
The greatest of changes for me was that Friday would also be my last day at the Nevada Daily Mail. I have taken a job at Nevada Regional Medical Center as Foundation and Marketing Assistant. I was excited and celebrating my new career, but I was also trying to close a chapter of my life. I have many friends at the newspaper that I already miss seeing each day. I was comfortable with my role at the Nevada Daily Mail as a graphic artist. I was scared that I might not make it if I left. However, I have an unshakable belief that change is good for the soul.
Change reminds you not to take things for granted, to live for the moment, to take every day as a chance to know yourself better than you did the day before. Those times that I have been the most frightened to move forward are the times when it has been most imperative that I DO take those next steps, or leaps, into the unknown. And blessed be the people I have met along the way. Especially those that held my hand and assured me I was okay.
One of the greatest gifts God gives us is the people in our lives. I have met so many smart, generous and creative individuals during my time at the newspaper and I'm so excited to be able to continue on my journey and meet even more. i also believe that change is good but can be really scary, i think that we have to swallow hard and take that first step into the great unknown and learn from our mistakes
