Which will you feed?
It's a question I ask myself everyday now.
See I found myself always thinking the worst. Assuming people were out to do me wrong. Living my life as if everything was going to go badly.
Granted there's no shortage of things to be pessimistic about.
Little by little though I realized I could not stand to continue that way.
So for the past year and a half I've been rebuilding myself.
And I'm basing it all on that simple question: “Which will you feed?”
It's kind of silly really. I got it from a movie — “Tomorrowland” starring George Clooney.
In the movie the main character's father tells the story of the two wolves inside each of us. One wolf is darkness and despair. It is envy and greed and hate. The other wolf is light and hope. It is peace and joy and love. The two wolves are battling each other for control of our hearts and minds.
The father asks: “Which wolf wins?” The answer is: “The one you feed.”
That simple story from a cute movie changed my life.
It gave me a simple mantra to hold on to. It reminds me I am in control of my life, and it is my responsibility to feed the right wolf.
So as we head into the uncertain future, which will you feed?
