So it's coming up one week since I was named editor of the newspaper.
I love to tell stories. And I love newspapers.
There's just something special about the printed pages. They're accessible, no batteries or internet connection required. Pick it up and check it out.
But we live in exciting times. I carry in my pocket a cell phone with a higher quality camera in it than the $2,000 digital SLR I had 10 years ago. With it, I can shoot photos and video. Then edit those photos and videos and publish them in minutes.
As a newspaper journalist, I am dedicated to more in-depth reporting as opposed to quick sound bites. However, I do believe these new digital tools have a place. I've had quite a bit of fun the last couple months experimenting with them.
There's no doubt our industry is changing. The way folks consume their news has radically changed over the past decade.
But I believe there will always be a place for the printed newspaper.
So I hope you'll follow along as I begin this incredible new chapter in my life. And I hope you'll allow me to help tell your stories.
