Worst Former President Ever! - Updated
Posted Sunday, April 20, at 9:15 PM
On the Simpson's there is a character known as the comic book guy whose catch phrase is "Worst _(fill in the blank) ever." I thought about that character upon hearing of Jimmy Carter's latest exploits overseas.
Carter has done a lot of good in the past; his work for Habitat for Humanity for example is truly a worthy effort. The temptation is to give him a pass because of his former good works when he does something bad but unfortunately what he is doing now is so wrong it comes perilously close to being evil. His book "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid" blames Israel for almost all the problems of the Middle East. He gives a few verbal hand slaps to the Arabs for their most egregious murders but saves his condemnation for Israel for daring to build a fence to protect themselves from murders and for settlements on disputed territory, which he claims is all Palestinian land. If the book were all that he had been up to there wouldn't be much to complain about. Books by ex-presidents are not exactly the stuff to stir the soul but Carter has been doing much more than just writing anti-Semitic screeds, he has been actively undermining current United States foreign policy. He did it during the Clinton presidency and he's up to no good during Bush's term. During his North Korean adventure he fouled up the talks with North Korea and produced an agreement that the North Koreans proceeded to break in record time. What he is doing now is even more dangerous to world peace and the security of our country. Carter is making a trip to the Middle East where he laid a wreath at the tomb of Yasser Arafat and is meeting with Hamas's top leader, Khaled Meshaal, in Syria. Shin Bet, Israel's version of the Secret Service, has refused to provide him protection while he is in Israel. I say "Good for them." Carter has become an embarrassment and a stumbling block. Whatever good he accomplished in his past life he has thrown away and he is now seriously in the running for the title of this blog post. Ah! For the good old days when we thought Billy was the stupid Carter! Update: The AP reported Monday that "Carter said that Hamas -- the Islamic militant group that has called for the destruction of Israel -- is prepared to accept the right of the Jewish state to "live as a neighbor next door in peace."" The AP at least got it right when they said "Hamas has not abandoned its official call for Israel's destruction." Hamas has called for Israel's destruction and Carter ignores that fact. He's a bumbling old fool who should have his passport taken from him before he starts a nuclear war.

Bodybag - A second comment was deleted. I told you before I won't put up with your nonsense.
Moral compasses There is a disturbing trend in this country to push the concept that if some action is not illegal it is not just legal but is wholly right and just. This is a trend that needs to be stopped in its tracks. There are all sorts of things that a person can do that are legal but are immoral, unfair, or just plain wrong...
Charlton Heston, R.I.P. One of America's finest actors died this weekend, Charlton Heston succumbed after a long illness. Heston was a man who was ahead of his time and contributed much more than a body of work as an actor to the nation. I once bumped into Charlton Heston on a visit to Los Angeles to visit my brother. ...
Signs Sign Sign everywhere a sign Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign And the sign said anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight So I jumped on the fence and yelled at the house, Hey! what gives you the right...
Racial politics Race entered the 2008 presidential politics despite Barack Obama's attempt to run as a post-racial figure. The door burst open when it was revealed that Obama's pastor, a man who had mentored him and performed his marriage ceremony, had used his pulpit to attack Jews, the United States, and whites...
Whose blog is it anyway? I'll be short and to the point. Comments on blog posts are allowed at the discretion of the service provider and the individual blogger. Each blogger has their own style and their own way of handling comments. In a previous post a commenter tried to hijack the blog and use it to make statements about the city and county officials, the newspaper and his feeling that his First Amendment rights were not being respected. To all of that I say: "So what?"...
Attacks on recruiters - Updated In the words of the neurotic newsman in the 1976 movie 'Network' I'm mad as h*ll and I'm not going to take it anymore. Attacks on recruiters have been something the idiots on the left like to do every once in awhile but lately the left has gone into overdrive and have pushed the craziness to new levels. City councils have been infected with the insanity and Berkley (big surprise) insulted recruiters in their city by saying they were uninvited and requesting they leave...
Pushing Diversity I was speaking with Carol Branham today and, as often happens when we get together, we got into a long-winded and wandering conversation about a variety of subjects. One of the things we talked about was diversity. We were both members of the diversity committee that was the brainchild of Helen Washburn and which was dissolved after her departure from Cottey. ...
Leapers I was talking to Chuck Nash Friday and I found out he was a leaper. No, not a leper, he doesn't have Hansen's Disease, he was born on February 29 so he only has a birthday every four years - such people are called leapers or leaplings. He said he was 68, which may be how many years have past since his birth, but he has only seen 17 birthdays...
AC/DC, Three-ways and other contortions Back in the day I could draw a diagram of a bridge rectifier, used to convert AC current to DC current, without half thinking about it. Need to wire a three-way light? No problem, let me grab a couple of switches and I'll have you up and running in no time. Now it takes me quite a bit of mental moil (it's a real word) to remember how to do the simplest electric work...
