It's just wrong!

I have a real problem with people who just do things that they know are wrong.
I have seen two instances of this in the past couple of weeks.
My family and I were driving down Cedar Street a week ago last Sunday afternoon. We drove by the Nevada Daily Mail office, where I happen to work, to see a woman who does not work there, getting out of her car and picking up the out-of-town newspapers the Nevada Daily Mail subscribes to. Yes, the newspapers that we pay for to read on Monday. The woman picked them up, got back in her car and drove away.
In short, she stole the newspapers.
It made me wonder how long this had been going on, but more importantly, why she thought it was ok to do it. Was it because she just wasn't going to get caught? Well, she did. She may not know it yet. She left before I could confront her, but she won't be getting any more papers. I told management and they have fixed the problem.
The other instance has happened twice in two weeks. One morning last week as I was getting my son and I ready to leave the house for work, I walked past my living room windows and noticed that our trash can lid was sticking up because it was overfilled with trash. "That's odd," I thought. "Josh didn't take the trash out last night." Upon leaving, I peeked into the trashcan to see that it was filled with several boxes, one of which was a laundry detergent that we do not use.
We were victims of drive-by dumping.
It happened again this week. Someone apparently cleaned out their car, leaving a trash bag full of take-out containers, an alarming amount of empty Marlboro packets and beer bottles. Nice, huh? Hope they weren't drinking and driving. We don't even allow that stuff in our house.
In short, someone is stealing our trash service. We pay for it; they do not. They fill up our trashcan so we do not have room to put our trash in. If we leave the trash on the ground, dogs rip it up. Bad for us and bad for the trash service guys, who we try to be nice to (my grandpa used to be a trash service guy).
So, we've moved the trashcan. Let them do it now. My husband is waiting.
It just really ticks me off. Why do people think it's ok to do wrong? You may be saying, "No one really got hurt," but it's the principal of the matter! Are these people thinking that just because they don't get caught, it's not really wrong? Well, it is, and you will have to answer for it at some point. Stealing is stealing, no matter how big or small. They should grow up and take some responsibility. You want to enjoy an extra newspaper -- buy it! You want trash service -- pay for it! i really hope that these people read this and feel really shamed. it takes alot of guts or stupidity to do those things, or both

Welcome to Nevada, its been this way for years, because the teenagers are allowed to run amuck and not be held creditable for the things they do.

Amen! I can relate to your story. I see things that "are just wrong" almost on a daily basis. I also see things that are just right. I see people picking up the trash around our local parks that other people throw out of the car when they are finished eating, smoking, drinking, changing their baby, etc. I see neighbors lending a hand when needed, I see volunteers taking time to work with Special Olympics, the elderly or whatever cause needs attention. I guess the bad sticks out worse than the good sometimes because we expect people to do what is "just right". I hope that folks around our community will always try and do what is "just right" and speak to those that are doing "just wrong" and let them know that we see them!
