Fun and games at Old Settlers Picnic

Sunday, August 17, 2003

A large crowd of participants and observers enjoyed a myriad of festivities Friday night at the 99th Sheldon Old Settlers Picnic. For area motorheads, a large collection of classic cars, restored vintage cars, hot rods and sports cars were present for the Cruise of 2003 on Main Street. Other people were more interested in watching area musicians perform in the Talent Show and Fiddle Contest at the Bandstand. Children of all ages had a cornucopia of slides, games and rides to play on to their hearts' content. Later, there was a street dance complete with a husband calling contest. Results were not available at press time Saturday morning. There was also a large cross-section of craft vendors and food booths. On Saturday, festivities included a pedal tractor event, a baby contest, an antique tractor pull, a parade and more.
