Band takes top honors in competition

The Nevada Tiger Pride Marching band brought home top honors from a regional competition for the second time this weekend. The band competed in the Ozarko band festival at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, on Saturday, Oct. 11. The Tigers placed first in the preliminary competition and earned additional awards for outstanding horn line and outstanding drum majors. The Tigers qualified to advance to finals and again took top honors with a first place finish and special recognition for an outstanding horn line. The Nevada High School marching band also received top scores in a competition in Carrollton the weekend of Sept. 27. The band placed first in class 4A with their presentation titled "Young America." Parents said the band members are motivated and delivered outstanding performances in each competition.
