Young Tiger harriers open season

Nevada Daily Mail Nevada's cross country team placed sixth in the nine-team Carthage Invitational on Saturday. Senior Jon Emery (18:07) was the only Tiger medalist with a 13th place finish. The top 15 medaled. Other individual finishers for Nevada were Jim Fay (19:04), 28th; Darren Chapman (19:44), 36th; Mason Benn (20:07), 42nd; and Curtiss Davis (20:56), 50th; all sophomores. Team scores were: Rogers (23), Carthage (89), Neosho (100), East Newton (114), Willard (143), Nevada (156), Lamar (166), Harrison (176) and Monett (178). Dusty Kime of Monett was the individual leader at 16:15. On Sept. 2, Nevada competed in the Joplin Quadrangular. Again, Emery (11:11) led Nevada with a seventh-place. Other finishers for the young Tigers were: Jim Fay (12:05), 14th; Mason Benn (12:10), 15th; Curtiss Davis (12:29), 17th; Darren Chapman (12:31), 18th; Mark Reed (13:00), 25th; Nick Conway (13:11), 28th; Justin Hou (13:21), 30th; Eric Good (14:08), 37th; Taylor Hall (14:22), 41st; and Ryan Watts (15:03), 43rd.
