Tiger harriers point to district meet

NEOSHO, Mo. -- The Nevada Tiger cross country team, host of the Class 3, District 7 meet scheduled for November 1, tuned up at the Neosho Invitational on Thursday. The Tigers, with 113 points, placed fifth in the seven-team meet, won by Springfield Parkview. Other team scores were: Parkview (35), 2. Neosho (72), 3. Webb City (78), 4. Carl Junction (88), 6. Joplin (115) and 7. Seneca (178). Jon Emery led the Tiger varsity with a fifth-place finish in 16:58 on the 3.1-mile course at Crowder College. Mason Benn (18:12) was 22nd; Darren Chapman (18:21), 25th; Jim Fay (18:30), 27th and Curtiss Davis (19:10), 34th. Nevada's Mark Reed captured third in the junior varsity competition. Reed's time was 19:03. Other Tiger JV competitors were: Nick Conway (21:35), 13th; Eric Good (21:35), 22nd; Justin Hou (21:36), 23rd; Taylor Hall (22:28), 28the; and Ryan Watts (25:04), 31st. The site of the district meet has been changed from Marmaduke Park to Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course. The Tigers will participate in a practice meet at Peters on Thursday, followed by a meet at Bolivar on Tuesday, October 28.
