NMS eighth graders suffer narrow loss to Webb City

Wednesday, October 1, 2003

The Nevada Middle School eighth-grade "A" spikers have probably seen enough of Webb City for a while. The Tigers (10-3-1) finished second to the Cardinals in the Nevada Middle School Tournament on Saturday, then lost a competitive three-game match to its Southwest Conference rival on Monday. Nevada dropped the first game 18-25, then evened the match with a 25-20 victory. Webb City got by the Tigers 15-11 in the match-deciding contest. Kristen Badgley and Cassie Engle led the Tigers with 10 and six points, respectively. The Tiger "B" squad gained a measure of revenge with a two-game sweep of the Cardinals. Nevada (8-4) won two close ones by scores of 25-21 and 25-22. Ashley Norman (seven points), Kourtni Gilmore (six points) and Emma Dreyer (four points) paced the Tigers.
