The Nevada High School girls golf team posted its lowest team score of the season to capture the Nevada Invitational at Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course on Tuesday. The Tigers, with five golfers finishing in the No. 3-4-5-6 and 7 positions, shot a 213, nine shots better than runner-up Carl Junction. Uniontown was third at 256 and Girard, Kan., fourth at 258. "It was a real accomplishment for the girls to beat Carl Junction," said Nevada coach Kelly Gray. "They have beaten us twice this season and we knew we could do it if we just put together four good scores and they turned in five." Medals were awarded to the top eight finishers. Tiger medalists and individual were Emily Benbrook (3rd-51), Sara Copeland (4th-53), Eleanor Horst (5th-54), Rachel Prewitt (6th-55) and Tabitha Pitts (7th-56). Nevada's Mayling Butterfield carded a 68 for a tie for 21st place. Medalist honors went to Carl Junction's Lindsey Eddy, with a 46. Her Carl Junction teammate Sydney Green was runner-up, with a 49. Rose Lamb of Uniontown was the eighth-place finisher.
