Tiger eighth graders bop Joplin
The Nevada Middle School girls basketball "A" and "B" teams improved to 6-0 with wins over Joplin North on Monday.
Nevada "B" held Joplin to two points in each quarter in a 33-8 win. Kadee Hughes paced the Tigers with 11 points, while Heather Klingaman and Katelyn Charlton scored six and five, respectively.
Eight Tigers contributed to a balanced scoring attack in the 51-18 "A" team romp.
Lauren Silvola and Kristen Badgley shared scoring honors with nine apiece. Lindsay Rice added eight, Jordan Webb seven and Cassie Engle six.
Tiger coach Tyson Beshore, while pleased with the perfect record and overall effort, still sees room for improvement.
"The effort's there every game," he said. "That's a given, but we need to work on some things that will make us better as a team.
"Specifically, we need to execute better on the defensive end. We're watching the ball instead of reacting to it. But those things are fixable and will just make us a better team in the long run."
