Comets bow to Neosho CC

Wednesday, December 3, 2003

Cottey College was soundly defeated 70-45 by Neosho County Community College on Tuesday.

However, the 25-point margin was a considerable improvement over a 46-point defeat earlier in the season to the powerful Lady Panthers.

Neosho only led 26-20 at the half, but turned up the heat after the intermission, outscoring the Comets 44-25.

Nati Lenchner, the Comets leading scorer, again led the offense with 20 points. Eight other Comets scored, but none more than five.

Ruth Jimmerson paced the Panthers with 22, while teammate Angela Hagan added 14.

The loss, Cottey's fourth straight, dropped its record to 2-9.

The Comets final two games on its current six-game homestand resumes with back-to-back games against Penn Valley C.C. on Thursday at 6 p.m. and St. Louis C.C.-Forest Park on Friday at 5 p.m.
