Nevada Regional Medical Center announces Feuquay as new CEO

Thursday, December 4, 2003

The Nevada Regional Medical Center Board of Directors announced today that Judith Feuquay has accepted a position as the hospital's new chief executive officer. She will begin work in her position Jan. 5. Feuquay succeeds Craig Cudworth, who has been serving as Interim CEO during the Board's search process. Cudworth followed Robert Ohlen, who was the prior CEO at NRMC since 1998.

Phil Vinyard, NRMC Board President said he and the rest of the board couldn't be more pleased to welcome her into the NRMC CEO position.

"As the senior management team, leadership team, and medical staff reported their assessments of the candidates to us on the board, a clear consensus began to build around Judy Feuquay. We were pleased, because she was our first choice too. Judy brings a unique blend of experience in hospitals our size, experience in the Quorum system, and a lot of good teambuilding skills. She told several of us, 'I love my job' and after being around her for a few minutes, it's clear that she does."

Feuquay has 19 years of experience in the public hospital sector. Most recently, she held the CEO title at Logan Hospital and Medical Center, in Guthrie, Okla., where she has been CEO for five years. Prior to working at Logan Hospital, she was the CEO at Perry Memorial Hospital in Perry, Okla., also for five years. Feuquay has also been an assistant administrator and the director of management analysis in Oklahoma City, Okla.

She comes to NRMC with a successful hospital career including the administrative leadership of a rural health clinic, home health services and a physician's health clinic, much like the expanding areas of NRMC. She holds a top 100 hospital award from her work in Oklahoma. Physician recruitment and architectural planning has evolved from prior experiences in other hospitals. Several other accomplishments under Feuquay's leadership include: addition of numerous programs to improve quality, profitability, productivity and operations, hospital foundation work, and high scores on the JCAHO accreditation surveys completed by hospitals under her administration.

Feuquay stated she is very impressed with the NRMC facility and she is pleased to become a member of the NIRMC team. "Nevada Regional Medical Center is in a very fortunate situation with the completion of the new facility, and is in a position to move forward and expand with the services that can be offered. It is wonderful to come to a hospital with such a hard-working team of professionals. I think Nevada Regional Medical Center is an incredible facility, and it is a joy to be a part of it," said Feuquay when asked about the acceptance of her new position. She also said she felt impressed with Barone Alzheimer Care Center and with Moore-Few Care Center. She is eager to work with different entities within the hospital. Judith and her husband "are very excited about moving to Nevada, and joining the community."

Feuquay's husband is an attorney; he practices in the area of family and employment law.

Dr. Brian Deem, NRMC medical director, said, "We were very fortunate to be able to interview three quality people for the CEO position, Judy stood out because of her experience in other small towns like Nevada. She has experience building positive relationships with the staff and the community. Judy and her family will be a good addition to the hospital and our community."

The selection process for Nevada Regional Medical Center's CEO was determined by the NRMC Board of Directors. The Board of Directors, NRMC Senior Management Team, and the NRMC Leadership Team interviewed her. Three candidates went through the same process, all of whom were well qualified, Vinyard said.

Feuquay holds a Master of Applied Psychology, Indus-trial/Organizational and Personnel Administration, from the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Ark., along with a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, psychology and English, also from the University of Arkansas.
