Geo. C. Baldwin's one of the most enterprising and up-to-date businessmen of this city has just received a new soda fountain, which adds much to the already beautiful interior of his store.

Baldwin has one of the largest and some of the handsomest drug stores in Southwest Missouri and the fountain enhance the appearance of the store so very much.

The fountain is one of the very latest patterns turned out by the manufacturers and possesses all the latest improvements as well as being the most beautiful fountain ever brought to Nevada. The fountain is made of handsome white onyx, trimmed in silver and plate glass with an attractive canopy of white polished hardwood.

The bank robbers who attempted to rob the Bank of Dederick not only failed but also paid dearly for their work. One of the bandits paid with his life and another one is expected to pay the same price as he now is near death's door, laying fatally wounded in the American Hospital with little, if any, chance of recovery. The third bandit is still at large but may soon be captured and pay the penalty demanded by the law.

Both city and county tax collections during 1953 advanced by sizeable chunks of cash over the total take during the previous year, as figures releases today by County and City officials indicate. The 1953 county collection from tax on personal property, real estate, merchants, railroads and utility companies hit $12,095.26, almost $55,000 more than 1952's $657,424.99.

Railroads, telephone companies and public service companies of course, accounted for the largest chunks of tax money. \A breakdown of county collections shows that the biggest portion $445,170.34 goes to the operation of the county's schools.
