Hot-shooting Hume Hornets scorch Hermitage

DEEPWATER, Mo. -- Hume knocked off Hermitage 64-47 in second-round action at the Lakeland Tournament on Thursday.

The Hornets (7-5) led throughout, peaking at a 24-point third-quarter advantage. Hume shot a sizzling 50 percent from the field, but only sank 7 of 18 from the charity stripe.

Hume's James Salters led all scorers with 25 points. Jeffrey Irwin and Clayton Brooks added 12 and 10, respectively.

James Brooks led Hornet rebounders with 10. David Burns grabbed nine and Clayton Brooks seven.

M. Murray topped Hermitage with 22.

Hume met Leeton on Friday night for fifth place. Results were unavailable at press time.
