Bronaugh Wildcats fall to Rich Hill

Sunday, February 1, 2004

RICH HILL, Mo. -- Rich Hill, in a mild upset, took advantage of a poor overall performance by Bronaugh to post a 53-47 victory on Friday.

"We played poorly in all phases of the game," said Bronaugh coach Tim Judd. "We didn't shoot it well, we didn't guard anybody and we couldn't hold on to the ball when we rebounded it."

The first quarter ended in 13-all tie, then Rich Hill forged a two-point halftime advantage at 29-27.

The Tigers' Nathan Miller and Josh Keiser were the offensive catalysts with 10 first-half points apiece. Keiser finished with a game-high 17 and Miller added 15.

Bronaugh (12-5) tipped the scales in its favor with a 39-38 lead as the third period expired, but was held to only eight fourth-quarter points while Rich Hill closed out with 15.

John Whitworth scored 16 for the once state-ranked Wildcats. Tyler Judd had 14.

After an 8-0 start, Bronaugh has gone 4-5 since. Granted, four of the losses were to quality teams, two to state-ranked Golden City and two to Jasper.

Said Judd, "Hopefully, we will show up to play next Friday."

Bronaugh hosts Vernon County Conference rival Northeast Vernon County.
