100 Years Ago -- February 3, 1904

Chief of Police Moore today received the following message from Liberal, notifying him of the robbery that was published in these columns Tuesday: "Chief of Police, Nevada, MO. -- Stolen $200 from Frisco agent, Liberal, MO.

Following is description of man who disappeared and believed to have been the thief- light sandy hair, light complexion, freckle or breaking on forehead, height about five-six. Had on dark coat. Age about 30."

From other sources, it is learned that the money was not stolen from the Frisco Depot but was taken from Station Agent Cantheir's trunk, which was in his room at the Ozark Hotel.

The thief has not been captured.

75 Years Ago -- February 3, 1929

The Men's Bible Class of the Presbyterian Church enjoyed last night a turkey dinner, the world feast perhaps would better describe it as it was indeed a feast, the kind for which the ladies of the church were justly famed. The tables and dining hall in the church were decorated most attractively, the color motif red, suggestive of St. Valentine.

50 Years Ago -- February 3, 1954

ROUSERTOWN --Mrs. J.L. Starlin fell at her home recently and injured the ligaments in her back. She is 81 years old.

Joe Malcom returned to his former work in Wichita, Kansas, recently. Mrs. W. Snow and Barbara Kurntz, are both ill.

Dallas Heryford and Willard Jobe called Sunday on Mrs. J.L. Starlin.

Mr. and Mrs. Charley Bond of Kansas City visited Mrs. J.L. Starlin also. Carl Slates recently sawed wood for John Rutherford.

Mrs. Bud Conyac of Iowa received a call from her husband telling her that he is back in the states after service in Japan and will be in Iowa on February 5, after receiving his discharge in California.

CLUB NEWS -- Members of the Nevada Camera Club met Monday evening at the Farm and Home Coffee Room.

Guests were Mrs. Elsie Young, Miss Imogene Ault, Mrs. Haney and the Rev. John White. Following a short business meeting N.T.

Paterson showed slides made by him on a recent trip to Europe. Refreshments were served by the hostess', Mrs. Howard Ellinger and Mrs. Roy Wert.
