Boys excel with wins over Bolivar

Ralph Pokorny/Daily Mail Alex Hardin opened his final year on the Nevada High School tennis team with a 8-1 win Tuesday afternoon over sophomore Tyler Sparks from Bolivar.

Nevada senior Alex Hardin set the bar by easily defeating his opponent 8-1 Tuesday in singles play against Bolivar.

Juniors Justin Hou and Derek Fast also picked up wins.

Edwark Horst in his first high school match lost with a heartbreaker after a losing a tiebreaker 6-8. Horst and Bolivar junior Magano were tied at seven each after regulation play.

In doubles action Nevada won two of the three matches with the team of Alex Hardin and Edward Horst winning 7-4 and the team of Derek Fast and Justin Hou winning 8-2.

"The seniors continue to play well," Nevada tennis coach Leon Lowe said.

The doubles match of Justin Hou and Derek and Fast was a strong performance by both players, he said.

Lowe said that overall the team played well but they need to improve in some areas before their next match on Monday in Joplin.
