Mrs. McQuaid was a graduate of Evening Shade High School. She attended John Brown University and graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College now Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, Ark., with a bachelor's degree in 1953 and later a master's degree in education in 1960. She received her master's plus 30 from the Missouri University at St. Louis. She taught school for 35 years. She was a member of the Ferguson Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, John Lightfoot and his wife, Charlene, Sheldon, Mo.; one daughter, Frances Elphingstone and her husband, Gene, Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Melissa Bryant, Edmond, Okla., Valerie Foulis, Teague, Texas, Paula Lightfoot, Jefferson City, Mo., Taci Archer, Norman, Okla., and Kimberly Elphingstone, Austin, Texas; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Tom Edwards, Little Rock, Ark.; and one sister, Maudie Sharp, Evening Shade, Ark. She was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and one daughter, Cerelda Demastus on Sept. 27, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 8, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, Mo., with the Rev. John Swatosh officiating. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Nevada High School Scholarship Fund in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
