After waiting for months InSite Support Services will finally get their loan.

Thursday, during a special council meeting the Nevada City Council passed an emergency ordinance to finalize the process to get InSite a $170,000 Action Loan to cover some of the company's start-up costs. The Action Loan program is a part of the Community Development Block Grant program.

"There are still a number of steps to take place Friday, Monday and Tuesday so they can get their money," Craig Hubler, city manager, told the council during the Thursday afternoon session. The ordinance the council passed Thursday authorized the mayor to sign with the city clerk as a witness the documents necessary to finalize the loan and administer the action loan.

The city sponsored this loan through the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

The money will be used to pay for the renovations to InSite's building and to pay for the equipment the company needed to purchase to get the company started, Michael Hunter, InSite president said.

InSite provides technical support service for Internet service provided by rural telephone and electric companies nationwide.

In unrelated council action scheduled for noon today, councilman-elect Jim Rayburn will be sworn into office during a special meeting.

Council members will also select a new mayor and mayor pro tem, and plans are in place to honor outgoing mayor Bill Edmonds and outgoing council member Marie Wessley.
