Caroline C. Johnson, 92, Nevada, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada following a brief illness. She was born March 20, 1912, in Corleone, Italy, to the late Ben and Bernice Milone. She was married Feb. 14, 1950 in Springdale, Ark., to Emil J. Johnson. He preceded her in death Nov. 10, 1969.

Johnson was a long-time resident of Nevada. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nevada. She had worked for several years at the Nevada State Hospital. She later worked at the Nevada City Hospital, in the obstetrics department and nursery, as a nurse from 1956 until her retirement in 1974. During her 18 years as a nurse, she attended to nearly 90 percent of the deliveries at the hospital. After her retirement, she continued to volunteer her time and efforts to the citizens of Nevada with the Community Outreach Program.

Survivors include two sons, Lloyd James Peters, Parsons, Kan., Raymond Thomas Peters, Hernando Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Mary Alice Hower, West Des Moines, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, James Milone and Angelo Milone, both of Rockford, Ill., and one sister, Rosalee. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, one brother and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 23, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Nevada with the Rev. Johannes W. Brann officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Thursday and until 11 a.m. on Friday at Milster Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today between 7 and 8 p.m.
