CCPA elects officers and approves the upcoming event season

Nevada's Community Council on the Performing Arts board of directors held its annual meeting on Thursday, June 10, at The Fox Playhouse, 110 South Main.
Officers for the CCPA fiscal year, July 1 through June 30, were elected. They include: Kim Bessey, president; Kenny Jones, vice-president; Brenda Golden, secretary, and Allison Fast, treasurer.
The 2004-05 regular season, which includes eight productions, was also approved by the board.
The CCPA's 30th season is scheduled as follows: September, community choir concert; November, Fall Fox Follies; December, community choir concert "Messiah"; January, children's production; February, black history month celebration; March, comedy "When The Cat's Away"; April, community choir concert.
A play will finish out the season in May.
The 2004-05 season tickets will soon be on sale at a cost of $42 for adults and $35 for students and seniors. By purchasing your tickets in advance the season pass holder has admittance to all regular season performances at a reduced rate.
The CCPA board is also anticipating numerous special events through the upcoming year. Wes Morton and Friends will present a special musical production this August.
Brent Mendenhall is working with fellow impersonators to bring a show to The Fox Playhouse in October and the CCPA will be in charge of the Nevada/Vernon County Sesquicentennial pageantry in June 2005.
Ticket prices for special events will be set according to the type and cost of each production.
Area residents are encouraged to support the arts locally by attending CCPA productions, volunteering as performers, techies or committee members, or through financial support. Donations to the Community Council on the Performing Arts are tax deductible and may be made at Metz Bank, Nevada, or by mailing them to PO Box 754, Nevada.
