100 years ago:

Vernon Dairy Association contemplates establishing a creamery in nevada in near future.

Several members of the Vernon County Dairy Association met at the Court house this afternoon and held a business session.

These gentlemen are enthusiastic over the dairy question and they have ever reason for being so for the question of producing cream and butter is indeed an important one.

This county is especially well adapted for the dairy business and with the hearty co-operation of our dairy men and the support of all citizens the production of butter and cream would bring a vast revenue to Vernon County.

75 years ago:

Does Nevada really want a White Way?

Tomorrow Nevada voters will get the answer to the question as to whether this city really wants an up-to-date White Way. For many years this city has been dreaming of securing a modern lighting system and tomorrow the opportunity will be at hand to make the dream a reality.

50 years ago:

Strike not affecting area

R.C. Lloyd, Carthage, manager of the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., at Nevada, Carthage and Lamar, said at noon today that he had received no indication as yet of a strike of installation and equipment workers affecting the Bell System. It is too early to tell, he added, whether a strike of Western Electric will extend to Southwestern Bell in this area.
