Nevada boy dies in weekend crash

Rescue workers had to cut away the top of the vehicle to free accident victims after a one-car crash on Sunday. One passenger, 8-year-old Harley Blevins, was rushed to Nevada Regional Medical Center, but was pronounced dead at the hospital. Two other passengers and the drivers suffered injuries and were also transported to area hospitals for treatment. Troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol are still investigating the incident. An 8-year-old boy died July 18 after the car he was riding in struck the railroad overpass on Subway Boulevard.

Harley Blevins, Nevada, was riding in a 1991 Chevrolet Beretta driven by his father, Teddy Blevins, 40, Nevada, which was westbound when the accident occurred, at about 5:30 p.m. According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the vehicle traveled off the north side of the road and hit a concrete bridge support.

Shayla Blevins, 13, and Emily Masters, 11, Nevada, were also riding in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Masters was taken to Nevada Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Blevins and his daughter were taken to NRMC and then transported to Freeman Hospital in Joplin with serious injuries.

Missouri Highway Patrol Troopers J. Wilde and B. Gruben are continuing the investigation into the crash.

Hi, I am the Shayla Blevins that was in the car that evening.. It was his 8th birthday the last birthday... to this day i wish he was still here.. I will always wish he was still here.. He was a bestfriend not just a brother... everyone who knew me knew if they were gonna see me i would have him attached to my hip.. he was my whole life .. but as it is i had to resume my life but he is and always will still be my heart.. although i still cry everyday.. I am having to move on without my bestfriend.. as of today he would be 11 years old.. am i am telling you i know for a fact he would have been a very friendly , hiper, just outgoing young man.. i am just wanting every person that has a young brother or sister to relize the things you say hurt so watch what you say because they could be gone in the blink of an eye.. i will admit i said some hateful things to him.. but i regret every word now.. because he was the best thing in my life.. he always brought me joy.. but now that he is gone i am so sad to have ever said anything mean or awful to him.. I just wanted to write this because everyone should know that you shouldnt say anything to your brother or sister that you would regret everyday of your life once they are gone..
