Wilda Crawford Rider

Wilda Crawford Rider, age 83, of Bronaugh, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at the Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center, Carthage. She was born on March 6, 1921, in Bado, Mo., to Charles C. Crawford and Betsy Simmons Crawford. Wilda grew up in rural Texas County, Mo. She came to Bronaugh in 1945.

She worked as a riveter at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., during World War II. She worked for Key Work Clothes in Nevada and later worked in housekeeping for the Nevada State Hospital until her retirement in 1976. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed taking care of her pets on her farm.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Rider and Rick Rider, of Bronaugh; two daughters, Janice Rider, of Texas, and Barbara Bohm, of Carthage; step son, Clifford Sjoholm, of Nevada; eight grandchildren, Larry Rider, of Washington, Michael Higgins, of Carthage, Robin South Piccolo, of Florida, Jamey Rider, of Colorado, Matt Bohm, of Carthage, Katey Rider, Christopher Rider and Nicholas Rider, of Bronaugh; three great-grandchildren, Jordan South, Dakota South, and Lauren Piccolo; and a long-time friend, Elizabeth Houk, of Bronaugh. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Delores Mercer; son, Darrell Mercer; two brothers, Wilbur and Wayne McGehee; and a grandson, Todd Bohm.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on today, at the Bronaugh Baptist Church, Bronaugh, with Ray Dean Scism officiating. Musical selections were "I Won't Have to Cross Jordan Alone," "Amazing Grace" and "Without Him." Pianist was Ann Loudermilk, organist was Doris Ann Ricketts. Pallbearers were Jim Rider, Rick Rider, Michael Higgins, Barbara Bohm, Charles Poff and Dale Daniels. Interment was in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh.
