Tiger tennis, softball to play today

The Nevada Tigers will be in action at home today, both on the tennis court and the softball diamond.

The Tigers will host Carthage in softball, with the varsity game beginning at 4:30 p.m. The softball team (0-2) is hoping to notch their first victory of the season.

The two teams square off at Bushwhacker Field.

In tennis, the Tigers open the regular season against Joplin. Nevada will be attempting to surprise the much larger school on the court. That match also starts at 4:30 p.m. The tennis match will be held at Nevada High School.

Also this week in Nevada sports, the football team will host a four-way scrimmage Friday. The Jamboree, as it is called, will feature teams from Butler, Lamar and Warsaw as well as the Tigers. Each team will play the other in different sessions, giving the teams' each three opponents.

Admission is $4.

The action starts at 7 p.m.
