Morning blaze damages home

Wednesday, September 8, 2004

A rental home caught fire just after 10 o'clock this morning in the town of Dederick, in eastern Vernon County. The Walker Fire department responded and quickly put out the fire, which burned most of the interior of the house. The renter had only been away from home a short time when the fire broke out, and no one was home; however, two dogs that belonged to the renter were trapped in the house; one was found dead, the other was still missing at press time. The house is owned by Lorri Terry, who said that they had just remodeled the entire inside and had just rented it to a couple. The renter's name was not disclosed, and the information as to the cause of the fire was not available as of press time today.
