Jack William Seitz Sr., 78, Sheldon, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at his home in Sheldon. He was born June 28, 1926, in Heavener, Okla., to Jackson Lon Seitz and Martha Ellen Little Seitz.

He grew up in Oklahoma and was raised as a Baptist. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a P.O.W. during World War II in Germany and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He had made his home in Vernon County since 1970. He worked at Nevada State Hospital for 20 years as a registered nurse until his retirement. He was a member of the VFW in Lamar.

Survivors include two sons, Jack William Seitz Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo., and John Walton Seitz, Poteau, Okla.; two daughters, Patricia Jane Holloman, Kingman, Ariz., and Nancy Lee Hamilton, Anza, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pat Dodd, Hamburg, Ark. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Seitz.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 7, at Olive Branch Cemetery, in Milo, with John Nichols officiating. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
