Hume boys sweep Miami

The Hume Hornets defeated Miami Tuesday in both boys varsity and junior varsity action.

The varsity won 56-50, holding off Miami in a close game throughout.

The Hornets had three players scoring in double figures in the win. Justin Wehar led the Hornets with 16 points, while Clayton Brooks scored 14 and James Salters had 11.

The Hornets overcame a 22-point performance from Miami's Seth Black in the victory and improved to 7-5 overall.

The Hornets led 34-29 going into the fourth period before both teams picked up the scoring drastically.

The two teams combined to score 43 points in the final period.

In the junior varsity game, Hume won 38-31.

For Hume it was their fourth win of the season against only two losses in JV action.

Caleb Franklin led the Hornets with 11 points, but seven different players scored.

Hume will be hosting their varsity boys and girls basketball tournaments beginning Tuesday.
