Elections for Vernon County Extension Council begin Jan. 22

The Vernon County Extension Council will be holding the 2005 council elections Jan. 22 through Jan. 30.

Four Vernon County residents will be running for eight seats on the Extension Council.

In the southern district, Gwen Snead, David Rutledge and Gerard Bartlett are on the ballot.

Currently, the county is divided into the northern and southern districts divided by U.S. Highway 54. Vernon County residents who are registered voters are urged to vote at one of 17 polling locations throughout the county.

In the northern district, polling locations are Farmers State Bank in Schell City, Producers Grain in Walker and Metz Grain in Metz and Harwood.

Southern district polling locations are Emery's Conoco Truck Plaza in Deerfield, Toni's Tobacco Barn in Sheldon and Producers Grain in Bronaugh. The polling locations in Nevada are Farm Services Agency, Extension Office, Producers Grain, Midwest Feed and Farm, Vinyards, Movie Barn, Countryside Animal Clinic, Nevada Vet Clinic, YMCA and Farm Bureau.

Newly elected members of the Extension Council will be installed by Vernon County Clerk Tammi Beach at the 2005 annual dinner on March 3.
