Chocolate for a good cause

The Council on Families in Crisis Valentine Chocolate Sale was held Thursday and today. Above, Woods Supermarket shopper Betty Hill browses and selects a bag of chocolates Thursday afternoon, while two women, who identified themselves as sister Sasao and sister Barclay, volunteers from the Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints, manned the table. The annual event is a fund-raiser for the council, which is best known for The Moss House, a shelter for the victims of domestic violence. The shelter is operational 24-hours a day with a 24-hour toll-free crisis hotline, (800) 398-4271. Sander said the agency serves about 300 families a year and the funds are greatly needed. "This fund-raiser is very important to our agency and a great way to support our work. Valentine's Day is time for love, not violence." The chocolate was sold at the supermarket and at Katherine's Place in Nevada, and remains on sale at Woods Supermarket until 7 o'clock tonight.
