NEVC and Bronaugh split pair

The Northeast Vernon County girls and Bronaugh boys were winners as the two schools squared off in a Vernon County battle.

NEVC received 19 points from Katie Foreman and 17 from Becca Price as they beat the Bronaugh Lady Wildcats 57-41.

NEVC took a 16-5 lead after the first quarter and controlled play for most of the way.

Bronaugh was led by Morgan Hinkle's 14 points.

In the boys' game, Bronaugh scored 44 first-half points en route to an 86-68 win over the Knights.

The Wildcats got 34 points from Tyler Judd and two others were in double figures as they held off the visitors.

Alex Gordon had 19 points and Chris Farmer scored 12 in the win.

NEVC was led by Desmond Foster, who scored 25 points. The Knights had three other players in double figures as Steve Koshko scored 16, Travis Sanderson had 15 and Kirk Haddix had 10 in a losing effort.

Bronaugh improved to 16-6. They will be at home again Tuesday as Dadeville visits. Dadeville is currently ranked ninth in the state.

NEVC will be at Halfway on Tuesday.
