The Nevada Tigers ran into a couple of pitching buzz saws Thursday in Carthage as they lost their third consecutive game, 7-0.

Nevada was held to one hit, as they were shut down by Carthage starter Bryan Patrick and then dominated by reliever Shane Housh.

Patrick went five innings allowing the one hit and one walk while striking out four. Housh relieved and struck out six batters without a baserunner in the final two innings.

"Again, I have to say hats off to Carthage," Nevada coach Jared Brown said. "They played a very solid game."

Brown said the pitchers were tough on Nevada at the plate.

"I have to give credit to their pitchers. They came in and threw strikes and worked the ball away," Brown said.

Brown said the difficulty of a losing streak to start the season should be offset by the character of his players.

"They're doing a good job," he said. "Anytime you lose three in a row, it's tough.

"We have a good bunch of kids though."

The Tigers had Dakota Bright starting the game. He was saddled with the loss (0-1) after going two innings.

Kevin Post and Brett Clark each threw two innings of relief. Carthage scored all of their runs in the first three innings, as Post and Clark were both effective on the mound.

Nevada will be in Anderson to play in a one-day tournament tomorrow. They face Archie at 2 p.m., then they play either hosting McDonald County or Wheaton.
