The Cottey College Comets have received another signed letter of intent from a stellar high school volleyball player. Jerusha Aulava from Freedom High School in Orlando, Fla., will be on the court for the Cottey Comets next fall.
Aulava played high school and club volleyball for the past four years. In high school, her primary position was setter, but on her club team, she played in the libero and defensive specialist spots. In 2002, her high school was both district and regional champions, and in that same year, her club team was the 2002 AAU tournament champion in the 15U Gold Division. Aulava won "Best Leadership Award" on her varsity volleyball team and she was the team co-captain for this year's club team that was the 2005 AAU regional champion in the 18T Gold Division.
"I am looking forward to having Jerusha on the floor for us next season," said head coach Marla Kannady. "She is a proven and consistent winner in high school and at the club level, and we look for her to bring that winning drive to the Comets."
Aulava has been involved off of the volleyball court as well. She has worked with the Cub Scouts, is president of a church young women's organization, is a two-year member of Freedom High School's Spanish National Honor Society, lettered in chorus and varsity softball, is a professional hula dancer, and holds a brown belt rank in Tae Kwon Do.
