Bushwhacker Days parade winners are announced

Hundreds turned out to watch the 2005 Sesquicentennial Bushwhacker Days Parade Saturday evening, featuring many historically-themed entries. Parade entries vied for awards in five categories, as well as for the Best of Show trophy.

Winners in the Youth category were first place, Bryan School Safety City; second place, Little Learners Day Care; and third place, YMCA Jump Rope Team.

Winners in the adult category were first place, 3M; second place, Wonderful Animals Giving Support, from the University of Missouri Extension; and third place, living history re-enactors.

Winners in the Business category were first place, Evergreen Memorial Chapel, second place, Country Inn and Suites; and third place, Kutina Vernon County Redi-Mix.

Winners in the equestrian category were first place, Trimbles Tiny Trails; second place, Tucker and Sons; and third place, Carl Johnson.

Winners in the Antique category were first place, Tom Addington Collection; second place, Eugene and Karen Story, and third place, Terry Caldwell's '59 Studebaker.

The Best of Show Grand Champion trophy, sponspored by Ray's Trophies was presented to the Royalty Reunion Float. Organizers said this entry paid tribute to all ocal "Legends of YesterYear's" Bushwhacker Days by featuring royalty winners since the 1960s. The float was coordinated by Joanna Perkins, royalty representative of the Bushwhacker Days Committee.

The trophy will be displayed at the Bushwhacker Museum.

The parade, themed "Legends of YesterYear, a 150-year Tribute" was sponsored by First National Bank of Nevada.
