Brian James Bartlett, 32, of Benton, Kan., died Sunday, July 10, 2005, in Butler. He was born Aug. 10, 1972, to James Francis and Carol Ann Potter Bartlett in Kansas City, Mo.

He spent his first six years in the Kansas City area. In 1978, he and his family moved to a farm near Foster, Mo. He graduated from Rich Hill High School in 1990. He attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Mo., and graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Technology and later graduated with a Master's in Aviation Safety. He joined Americorp in 1996 and later worked for a school bus service and leasing company. He was a Kansas State corrections officer and most recently was a GED teacher with a non-profit organization. He was a member of the North Star Masonic Lodge No. 168 and the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, both in Wichita, Kan.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Carol Bartlett, of Rich Hill; two children, Conner and Margaret Bartlett, of Benton, Kan.; one sister, Julie Leonard, of Nevada; his wife, Shauna Bartlett and her daughters, Colleen and Mary Parkburst, of Benton, Kan.; one niece and one nephew; and uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and an uncle.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 16, at the Rich Hill United Methodist Church in Rich Hill, with the Rev. Mary Lou Toft officiating. Inurnment with Masonic Services in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Contributions are suggested to the Trust Fund for Conner and Margaret Bartlett, in care of Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel.
