Special to the Herald

Howard Rice and the former Edna Mae Gordon were married at the Bronaugh Methodist parsonage on Sept. 15, 1940. Howard and Edna Mae will observe their 65th wedding anniversary this month.

The couple have two children, Ed Rice of Sheldon, Mo., and Shirley Shellhorn, Independence, Mo. They also have four grandchildren, one being deceased; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Rice have spent their entire married lives in Barton County, where they were engaged in farming. He retired in 1990. Their hobbies include camping, making quilts, attending Sheldon Methodist Church, Lions Club, Senior Citizens, and sharing good times with friends.

Due to health considerations, the family will hold a private celebration, however, it is noted that cards would be welcomed from friends and relatives and may be addressed to the Rices at 124 N.W. 90th Rd., Lamar, MO 64759.
