Reservations are now being taken for a meeting for all of the human services providers in Vernon County, and those outside the county which serve people in Vernon County.

The Vernon County Resource Share luncheon is set for 11:30-1:30 p.m., in the Eagles Lodge, Nevada. Division of Vocational Rehabilitation District Supervisor Ray Drake has attended a similar annual program that has been very successful in Cass County, and he believes the luncheon can be just as valuable and effective in Vernon County.

Drake and VCRS committee members Steve Gray of Lakes Country Resource Center and Pat Chambers and John Klingaman of On My Own, Inc., believe the comprehensive gathering will help all the entities in the area to serve needs more effectively.

Every service provider is encouraged to attend the Dec. 1 luncheon, for a fee of $6 per person.

A database identifying more than 175 service providers has been created but committee members believe there are more, so any provider who does not receive an invitation, sent this week, should contact Susan Thompson, (417) 448-1332.

Invitations include a form from which organizers will compile a resource guide.

Each agency will have about two minutes to share basic service and contact information.

Attendees are also asked to bring brochures, flyers or other handout. Information tables will be set up for resources materials, to facilitate the sharing of information.

The reservation deadline is 4 p.m., Monday, Nov. 21; and reservations may be made by calling Thompson, at the Vocational Rehabilitation Office, at (417) 448-1332 or (800) 598-3471; by fax at (417) 448-1351, or by e-mail at susan.Thompson@vr.dese.
