Clyde Edwin Alexander, 87, Belton, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at St. Joseph Health Center, Kansas City, Mo. Clyde was born Aug. 6, 1918, in Vernon County, Mo., the son of John H. and Lillie Belle (McDowell) Alexander. He married Artie LaVerna Miller on Jan. 24, 1942, in Cass County, Mo.

Clyde had worked as a farmer, truck driver and managed a service station in Belton until he started his own company as a water line installation contractor until his retirement in 1982.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Artie on Aug. 9, 1999; and a son Byron on Dec. 5, 2000; and three brothers, John C. Alexander, Cecil Alexander and David L. Alexander. He is survived by his son, Clyde Alexander, Jr. and his wife Wanda L. of Granby, Mo.; his daughter, Judith C. Kazmier of Belton; daughter in-law Sheryl Alexander of Harrisonville; two sisters, Katherine G. Gilroy of St. Louis, Mo., and Anna Margaret Hamersley of Nevada; one sister-in-law, Beryl Alexander, Nevada; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 28, at the Atkinson Chapel, Harrisonville, Mo., officiated by Pastor Melvin Anders, Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church, Rocky Comfort, Mo. Honorary casketbearers were Chris Anders and Bill Anders. Casketbearers were John C. Kazmier, John H. Alexander, Drew P. Kazmier and Scott M. Kazmier. Burial was in Raymore Cemetery, Raymore, Mo. Contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
