Vernon County celebrates '150 Years of Giving'

The cold temperatures outside were a contrast to the warm enthusiasm displayed by Nevada/Vernon County residents who gathered at the Square Saturday evening to enjoy the annual Christmas parade. The crowd genuinely appreciated the dynamic results of local organizations pulling together to celebrate the season, organizers said.

Winners are : 2005 Spirit of Christmas overall winner, First Christian Church; first place, youth, Lone Star 4-H; honorable mention, youth, Girl Scouts; first place, adult, MO Kan Square Dancers; honorable mention, adult, Wonderful Animals Giving Support; first place, business, Elks Lodge; honorable mention, business, Heartland Behavioral Health Services.

A representative from organizations recognized above may pick up their trophy or plaque at the chamber of commerce office, in the TeamBank building, 201 E. Cherry.
