'Silent killer' invades local reporter's home

A report of smoke in a house in Nevada came through to emergency personnel Tuesday evening at about 5 p.m. When the man and woman living at the residence stepped into their home, they saw clouds of smoke. The wife called 911 emergency and responders came to the residence quickly. It was the home of Nevada Daily Mail reporter Afton Bugg. The fire was minor, but the real danger, she learned, wasn't from the fire itself. In fact, the fire may have prevented a bigger tragedy. A silent killer -- carbon monoxide -- had found its way into the home.
